Brand, space & human experience

Shanghai · 2014—2016

In Shanghai, I learned to design beyond the page — combining graphics, space, light and technology to turn brand identity into a complete physical experience.

Sephora — retail experience

Starting from the store concept initiated by Hubert de Malherbe, I worked alongside the other Design Managers to translate the vision into a complete retail experience.

As Graphic Design Manager, I led a team of three designers and developed the store’s graphic communication systems — signage, labels, displays, digital screens, brand messaging and other in-store touchpoints — while also contributing to zoning, customer flows and layout optimisation.

My team was also responsible for refining and harmonising the graphic quality of the agency’s visualisations, from lighting and furniture placement to screen content and final presentation.

Experience

From visual identity to interactive experience

The store was conceived as more than a place to purchase products — it became an environment to explore, test, discover and interact with the brand.

Super Brand Mall — chapter opening

Intro

From shopping mall to destination.

Reimagining one of Shanghai’s landmark shopping destinations through a new brand and spatial experience — from its façade to its nine-floor customer journey.

Identity

The Shining Star

Translating the architectural concept into a visual identity and communication system designed to live across the entire shopping mall.

Floors

Nine floors. Nine experiences.

A destination-led approach where each floor becomes a distinct world — combining retail, culture, entertainment and lifestyle into one coherent customer journey. From cosmetics and fashion to urban landscape, kids, F&B and fine dining.

Luxury & Entertainment

From identity to architecture

Luxury meets entertainment in a new kind of destination — somewhere between a shopping centre and an urban theme park. Conceived as a city within the city, the experience blends retail, architecture and spectacle into one immersive world.
